Today, Brooklyn-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Garzón-Montano shares his "Bombo Fabrika" video filmed in San Basilio de Palenque, Colombia and directed by Santiago Carrasquilla. About the video, Garzón-Montano comments, "Palenque is a magical place - people blasting music and playing drums and singing everywhere - expressing more joy than I've seen or felt in my whole life. Bombo Fabrika is about the place I go to when I write music. The music is not mine, it flows through me from a source much older and wiser than my body. Palenque is famous for originating some styles of Cumbia music. Filming this video in such an energetically potent musical birthplace was an incredible and humbling experience. Creating a bridge between Colombians living in NYC and Colombians living in Palenque was beautiful."
Garzón-Montano has also released a Bombo Fabrika t-shirt with 100% of proceeds going to music programs in Palenque. The shirt is available for purchase here.
Following the release of his widely acclaimed debut LP Jardín via Stones Throw Records, Gabriel performed at NPR Tiny Desk and was included in roundups with Billboard's "Best 50 Albums Of 2017" + Okayplayer's "Top 17 Albums Of 2017". His spring/summer tour features newly added lead support dates with Miguel and the Robert Glasper Experiment - tickets for the tickets for the remaining shows are available here.
