International DJ/producer duo GTA releases their newest single, "Buscando" (featuring Jenn Morel). The track is the first release off their upcoming EP titled, "La Nueva Clasica". The 6-song EP is set to release October 19th under Diplo's label, Mad Decent and reconnects them to their Latin roots, adding a sonic element unique to Miami's multicultural landscape in which they grew up in. The EP will include other collaborations and features from artists such as Tisoki, Godwonder, Versano Laroz, Moska, and more. "Buscando" is currently available for streaming on all major digital streaming and retail platforms.
"We're excited for the release of this EP, and we really feel "Buscando" is the perfect track to lead with. It's a heavy Dembow influenced song, mixed with some tropical/dutch house percussion and really hype vocals by Jenn Morel! We heard her music through some mixes while looking for music on soundcloud, and immediately fell in love with her voice! Her attitude and her flow really reminded me of the first time I heard "Lorna - Papi Chulo" and how her voice had so much swag! We hit her up on Instagram and Twitter, and set up a session. We got into the studio and hit it off immediately!" shares Matt.
The Miami-bred duo, Matt Toth and Julio Mejia have always been pioneers in their movement. While half the duo is Cuban and the other Honduran, the guys pride themselves in their culture and it shows in their music. "Growing up in Miami, we were always hearing some kind of Latin influence. Whether it may be current stuff like reggaeton or spanish rap, to old salsa classics, to Latin jazz, it was all on the radio in Miami. I (Julio) went to school for music and also got to experience playing trumpet in different kinds of bands, playing music like salsa and latin jazz. We also dove a lot into what is going on in the Latin music scene now, so we explored Dembow a bit and got a lot of influence from that for this EP."
Although faithful to their mission statement of "Death to Genres", GTA were one of the pioneers of moombathon, a fusion of both reggaeton and electronic music. So much so that Diplo could not deny their talent, first featuring them in 2012 on "Express Yourself" and later went on to sign them exclusively to his label, Mad Decent. GTA's unique sound and dynamic has opened many doors with incredible opportunities for the guys. They've collaborated with some of music's most talented artists such as Vince Staples, Tinashe, Dillon Francis, Anna Lunoe, and more. In addition, they also toured over the years with Rihanna, Calvin Harris, and Tiesto, as well as having performed at various music festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Ultra, EDC and Tomorrowland. Their hard work and dedication has built a fanbase that contributes to over 2.4 million average monthly Spotify listeners, and amassed over 436 million streams, and 516 million Youtube views. This versatile duo proves you could do it all and not be labeled, there are no limits for GTA and this first release is only a glimpse of what's to come.
