GOLD MOTEL today announced a headlining tour in support of their self-titled sophomore album, due out July 3, 2012 on Good as Gold/Thirty Tigers. The nearly month long trek kicks off with a performance at this year’s Summerfest in Milwaukee on July 1st and will include two support dates – a July 21st NYC date that has the band joining up with River City Extension at Bowery Ballroom and a July 17th date with Electric Guest at Lansing’s The Loft.
GOLD MOTEL’s self-titled album is the follow-up to their debut album Summer House, which was released in June 2010. The new album is already finding fans in the press with RCRD LBL premiering the first single “Musicians” and calling the album “…a shimmering collection of vintage-tinged, sun-soaked indie-pop numbers.” In addition, the album just shipped to radio and has already been added by alternative tastemaker stations KEXP and WXPN.
GOLD MOTEL is excited to embark on this summer’s headlining tour in support of the new album and they are no stranger to the road, having spent the better part of last year touring. Since their debut performance headlining Chicago’s Beat Kitchen in 2009, they’ve toured and shared the stage with a number of notable artists including fun., Kate Nash, OK Go, Butch Walker, and They Might be Giants. In addition, the band played their first ever Lollapalooza Festival last summer to raves.
