While having been in the group's live rotation for a number of years, Fruition offered up a new take on "There She Was" which was rearranged for the studio and new album. The band later played the old arrangement the next night, on New Year's Eve proper, as a nod to the differences between the two versions of the song.
Watching It All Fall Apart, out Feb 2 via LoHi Records, came to life with this same kinetic urgency found in Fruition's live sound. "It's kind of an impossible task, this idea of transmuting the live energy into something you can play on your stereo, but I feel like this record comes close to that," says Kellen Asebroek.
To achieve that sound, Fruition teamed up with acclaimed producer Tucker Martine(My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists, Modest Mouse), who at the time just wrapped up recording the new First Aid Kit album. "Tucker helped us push ourselves to create something that glistens in subtle little ways that you might not even pick up on at first," says Asebroek. "We got to play around with all this analog gear and these weird old keyboards we wouldn't ordinarily use, like a bunch of kids in a toy store where everything is free." The end result being their most gritty, fuzzed-out, intricately textured work to date.
This winter, they're bringing their "stadium-worthy energy" around the country in support of the album, including two shows at The Ogden Theatre in Denver on February 2nd and 3rd to celebrate the release. No stranger to playing iconic venues at this point, Fruition also recently announced a show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre opening for Railroad Earth.
If you won't be able to catch them out on the road, then make sure to keep a look out for their first ever eTown performance, debuting on local NPR and community radio stations across the county from January 31st to February 6th.
