Shedding light on Brighton's buzzing music scene, rap/production duo Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunnnow release their highly anticipated EP The Lakes. Accompanying the 7-track project is a vivid music video for the lead single 'Black Water'.

The visual for 'Black Water' encapsulates the tone of the full EP, which was created during a trip to the Lake District. Through a fogged lens, the viewer is transported to the dewy settings of a riverbank, whereFrankie is perched and pondering. Despite being surrounded by an array of bold and colourful plants, there is a sombre, reflective mood that matches the song perfectly. In his signature production style,Harvey Gunn forms a synth-layered beat that is laced with a punchy bass, to create something ethereal and moody. With his continuous flow of pensive lyrics, Frankie Gunn shines a light on the ordinary in a way which makes it brilliant, akin to everyman hero Mike Skinner.

'The Lakes' EP, a 7-track production, showcases the duo's unmistakable chemistry, and includes 'Easy Looking', a track featuring the talents of multifaceted East London artist Murkage Dave. Speaking on the project, Harvey explains: 'the surroundings and isolation were very inspiring and let us create music that was in that moment'. For Frankie, the trip to the Lake District was an opportune moment for him to be more open, as he says 'I feel like I express myself in a way I haven't ever been able to'.

Influenced by multiple genres including classic hip-hop, modern urban, UK garage and dance music, the Brighton natives cite Kano, MJ Cole, The Streets and OutKast amongst their musical inspirations. Honing their signature sound since their teenage years, they have built a cult following through a strong catalogue of album releases. Through recent singles that include garage-influenced bop 'Coconuts', they have seeped into industry consciousness with support across BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra from DJ Tarrget, Huw Stephens and Chilly Gonzales.

After previously joining Loyle Carner and Slum Village on their respective UK tours, the pair will embark on their own 8-date UK tour this month, kicking things off at Birmingham's Hare and Hounds venue on27th March. With further dates across Liverpool, London, Manchester, Bristol, Southampton andNottingham, they will round off the tour with a performance at Belgrave Music Hall in Leeds onSaturday 6th April.
