Red Bull Music Festival New York returns this spring with the critically-acclaimed international music series' seventh installment in the city. Launching April 30, this year's festival will feature headline shows with steadfast, perennially innovative Red Bull collaborators, and partner with additional groundbreaking artists to bring their unique, boundary-pushing visions to the stage for stunning performances. Tickets for Red Bull Music Festival New York go on sale today, Wednesday, March 20 at 10am ET via redbull.com/nyc.
FKA twigs, Rosalía, Teyana Taylor, Tierra Whack and Holly Herndon are some of this year's performers who have a continually evolving creative relationship with Red Bull. FKA twigs last performed in New York City as part of the Red Bull Music Festival in 2015 with her show Congregata. This year, during two evenings co-presented by Park Avenue Armory, she will debut an intimate and dramatic live show inside the Armory's iconic Wade Thompson Drill Hall. An invaluable creative partner, the Armory has previously worked with Red Bull Music Festival to produce extraordinary shows for Anohni (2016) and Oneohtrix Point Never (2018).
Latin Grammy-winning Catalan singer and songwriter Rosalía opens the festival, performing music from her critically lauded 2018 album El Mal Querer with a full live band, brilliant dancers, and breathtaking LED visuals. For one of the first shows inside the newly renovated Webster Hall, the breakthrough performer will expand on her spectacular Red Bull show in Madrid last fall.
Harlem-born singer, songwriter, dancer, model, director, and actress Teyana Taylor was part of Opening Night at last year's Red Bull Music Festival Chicago and teams up with Red Bull again to bring to life House of Petunia--a spectacular audio-visual experience spearheaded by her all-female production company, The Aunties, featuring provocative stage design and mesmerizing choreography from a world-class team of dancers.
Tierra Whack will create an immersive show for the festival at the iconic Rainbow Room, bringing her widely praised, unconventional and cinematic songs to life. The performance follows the Philadelphia native's headlining set atRed Bull Music Festival Los Angeles earlier this year, four newly released tracks, and her recent performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
Composer and sound artist Holly Herndon willpremiere PROTO, her pioneering new live show featuring music from her new album (also titled PROTO), incorporating a fluid ensemble of 8 vocalists, Spawn (a nascent machine intelligence), machine learning specialists, choreographers, and visual artists.
Additional Red Bull Music Festival New York shows include: Rapper / producer JPEGMAFIA, who will showcase his gritty and abrasive beats with a dynamic live show in-the-round; NYC's Onyx Collective bringing together their notable friends from the worlds of jazz, hip-hop, soul, and R&B for a free and unreplicable performance of intense, genre-expanding jazz at one of New York City's beautiful parks; artist, musician and activist Moor Mother who operates at the intersection of spoken word, noise, punk, and free jazz will bring her show Red Summer--named for the flood of heightened anti-Black racial terror that swept cities across America in 1919--to BRIC, featuring an installation by Black Quantum Futurism; and the festival closes with Nyege Nyege Night featuring a propulsive and bass-heavy set from Ugandan DJKampire who--after laying the bedrock for the creation of safe party spaces for women and the LGBTQ+ community at home--will make her US debut, co-headlining with rising singeli duo MCZO & Duke.
