Icona Pop cannot be stopped. Billboard is reporting that the duo have released their follow up to the massively successful, 'I Love It.' The new song titled 'Girlfriend' quotes the Tupac song 'Me and My Girlfriend.' The lyrics from the classic Tupac song were also made famous by another famous rapper you may have heard of, Jay-Z. The now famous lyric 'All I need in this life of sin/Is me and my Girlfriend' was reimagnied by the Swedish duo into a pop friendly beat. It ditches the angry themes of 'I Love It' and uses "Girlfriend' as a reaffirmation of the duo's close-knit friendship.

A representative for the group confirms that their U.S single is still 'I Love It' but 'Girlfriend' is currently picking up steam in Europe and other international areas. This new single almost certainly signifies that the girls are nearly finished with their highly anticipated album. They have said that the album will be ready soon.

Aino Jawo, of Icona Pop, stated with regards to the album 'We've worked with hip-hop artists like Zebra Katz, and also Stargate, Benny Blanco and Shellback...It's gonna be out before the end of the summer.'
