Astonishing. Exceptional. Sophisticated. The music of GRAMMY-nominated electronic dance music group, FATUM, is anything but ordinary. Even amidst a seemingly endless gusher of new-music releases coming out unceasingly each week, FATUM's records have a way of rising above the rest. FATUM's "Violet" (Armind | Armada) is out now.
Armada Music chief artist and co-founder, Armin van Buuren, premieres "Violet" on the internationally broadcast radio mixshow, "A State of Trance" (ASOT) Radio this week and the single will also be included on the ASOT 2018 mix compilation.
"Violet" is unsurpassed tech-house. The intro of this tune summons the essence of Plastikman but with a much warmer, deeper ambiance. This dark, progressive-house track sees FATUM feeling snugly ensconced on a darkened dancefloor, masters of the mixer, beckoning their legions of music-lovers out from hidden corners of the night. Middle Eastern sitar strings enter with tension-building minor chords up until......boom! A vast aural burst, and one falls hopelessly in love with this tune. Of course, when FATUM drop this track during their live DJ sets, the crowds erupt with manic energy. The wide and weighty 4/4 beat of "Violet" gives this underground progressive-house track a pulsating energy that's almost liquid. A suddenly tender, pretty interlude sneaks up on the listener before FATUM takes this record farther down into the rabbit hole of sensuous, gooey warmth, one that positively oozes music and life itself.
FATUM (pronounced "FATE-um") is the GRAMMY-nominated American electronic dance music act consisting of Chad Newbold, Bruce Karlsson, Daniel Davis and Bill Hamel established in 2014. With releases on leading record labels, Armada Music, Anjunabeats, Black Hole, Ultra Music, Big Beat/Atlantic and Ride, the group has made a considerable impact on the global dance music scene. With support from fellow artists, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, The Chainsmokers, Kaskade, Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten and others, FATUM has quickly established a toehold in the international dance music firmament. FATUM's remix of "Hold On" featuring singer/songwriter, Jes Brieden, earned the group a GRAMMY nomination at the 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards for "Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical" in 2015. In 2017, FATUM's original song with vocalist Angel Taylor, "On My Own" (Armind), won in the category of "EDM" at the 8th annual Hollywood Music In Media Awards where the group performed in front of an A-list audience of the music industry's elite. As a live act, FATUM can be seen performing at major festivals and nightclubs. FATUM has performed live as part of Anjunabeats branded events including at Escapade Festival in Ottawa, Canada and at Anjunabeach during Miami Music Week 2018. The energy FATUM brings to its progressive-sounding music is undeniable.
