The Triad, Eugene Marlow's Heritage Ensemble - an imaginative quintet that churns out in-the-pocket grooves and soulful performances of original compositions and Hebraic melodies in various jazz, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and neo-classical styles - celebrates its latest CD release: A Fresh Take(MEII Enterprises 2011).

The Triad Theater is located at 158 W. 72nd Street (a half block east of Broadway),
7 p.m.; 1 set; $10 + 2 drink minimum; students with ID, $5.

The first 25 people to show up will get a free copy of the "A Fresh Take" CD. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Leader Marlow's inventive arrangements and lively presence at the keys--combined with multi- Grammy-nominee drummer Bobby Sanabria's and virtuoso percussionist Cristian Rivera's arsenal of Afro-Cuban rhythms, saxophonist Michael Hashim's expressive horns, and the powerful yet poignant bassist Frank Wagner--bring compelling variety to the table.

As Chris Spector of Midwest Record puts it: "The Players are all first call cats and the result is a dandy fresh take, just like the title [of their latest album] says."
