Essence Goldman to Perform at Jewish Museum, 9/15

Essence Goldman is performing a rock concert for families on Sunday, September 15 at 2:00 pm at The Jewish Museum. With a voice likened to Nelly Furtado and Gwen Stefani, Essence Goldman's infectious original songs and unique style appeal to parents and kids alike. Families will rock to original songs such as T Rexxxx! and familiar favorites like You Are My Sunshine from her new album, A Dog Named Moo.
Tickets are $18 per adult; $13 per child; $15 adult Jewish Museum family level member; and $11 child Jewish Museum family level member. Adults are asked to accompany their children. Following a successful career as singer/songwriter, A Dog Named Moo is Essence Goldman's first album for kids. This collection of heartfelt songs is a gift of love for her son Rhys, who has been enjoying these light-hearted, humorous tunes since he was born. "I never set out to make a kid's record," Essence explains. "It was the furthest thing from my mind but when I had my son Rhys , I needed to find creative ways to engage him in everyday events like taking baths, getting dressed, or wearing a seat belt. For awhile I was making up little ditties and then one day it dawned on me that these were real songs that other kids would enjoy too." Daily Candy picked A Dog Named Moo as one of six Best Kid's Music Albums of 2011.
Billboard Magazine describes Essence Goldman as "a singer, who, like Madonna, isn't afraid to take musical chances." She has recorded three acclaimed albums for adults, and has opened for Jason Mraz, Shawn Colvin, Tom Petty, Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Chrissie Hynde, Steve Miller, Linda Perry and the Indigo Girls.
