Grammy-nominated Eroica Trio returns to Jorgensen – after its performance in November of Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra – to play a special solo Valentine's Day program laced with the romantic works of Lalo, Kreisler, Gershwin and Bernstein on Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Alain Frogley, professor of music history at UConn, will offer insights about the piano trio at a pre-concert talk at 6:45 p.m.

The trio constitutes Erika Nickrenz on piano, Susie Park on violin and Sara Sant'Ambrogio on cello.

About the show: "In its intimate love note of romantic pieces at Jorgensen, the Eroica will play the autumn and spring segments of Astor Piazzolla's Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, an aria from Heitor Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras, a Gershwin prelude, parts of Edouard Lalo's Trio in C Minor, and Fritz Kreisler's Miniature Viennese March and Liebesfreud, all in the first half of the program."

"The second half will include arrangements of George Gershwin's Porgy and Bess Fantasy, Bernard Godard's Berceuse de Jocelyn, and Leonard Bernstein's "Somewhere" from the West Side Story Suite."

As the official representative for New York's Carnegie Hall, the trio opened the "Distinctive Debuts" series at Weill Recital Hall. Eroica also made a Lincoln Center debut and has toured the United States, Europe and Asia.

About the trio: It has released eight recordings, drawing critical kudos and multiple Grammy Award nominations. Its recording of the Beethoven "Triple" with the Prague Chamber Orchestra landed the piece on Billboard's Top 20 for the first time in recording history. Eroica's performance of the "Triple Concerto" on German television was broadcast throughout Europe. The trio is committed to sharing its music widely and plays in schools, master classes, homeless shelters, senior centers and prisons. It has performed in summer festivals at the Hollywood Bowl, Aspen, Mostly Mozart, Ravinia and Spoleto, Italy.
