On November 9th, Blonde Medicine will release Eric Lampaert's new comedy album Alien of Extraordinary Ability, based on his critically acclaimed show of the same name, which he performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The title is a reference to the U.S. Department of Immigration classification of the same name that gives priority to visa-seekers who demonstrate "extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics." Lampaert currently holds citizenship in three different countries (France, UK and USA), most recently becoming a U.S. citizen after his marriange to a "nice lady" from Pittsburgh (this will make more sense once you've listened to the album). Lampaert's relationship with the audience on his album is teasingly confrontational, but he skirts each issue so charmingly that he never completely ventures into heel territory.
Eric Lampaert is a comedian, actor, writer, director, Lego enthusiast, wannabe astrophysicist, and he's owned by a cat named Debbie. You may have seen him in various places, maybe live on stage, in movies, on BBC, HBO, Netflix, Comedy Central, or maybe outside your bedroom window when the moon is full, you might just see his gargantuan glistening gums sparkle in the darkness. He studied at École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris & Theatre Arts at Middlesex University in London, so he can recite Shakespeare in two languages, but he can't change a tyre. Eric has performed stand up around the world. He's been at Montreal's Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, the Johannesburg Comedy Festival, several solo shows at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, he has supported Eddie Izzard (in English and French), performed a theatre run of his solo show in London & Paris, and won the ComediHa Best International Comedian Award in Quebec. He has a lead role in AmStarDam (Stoner Express), nominated as Best UK feature film at Raindance Festival, and co-starred in motion picture Moonwalkers (alongside Rupert Grint and Ron Perlman), in Luc Besson's film Valerian & The City of a Thousand Planets and his upcoming one, Anna, starring Helen Mirren, Cillian Murphy & more.
