ENTRANCE (aka Guy Blakelsee) is excited to release his brand new video for standout lead single "Always The Right Time." Directed by Jay Buim who has worked with artists such as Jeff Koons and Nick Cave as well as bands like Future Islands and The Sea and Cake, the video was shot in Brooklyn, NY and features transgender actress Katherine Lyra Wakefield (aka Lyra Daydream).

"Always The Right Time" is at once an intimate declaration of love and a collective call to embrace love's power to fight the dividing language of hate. It is part of ENTRANCE's continued activism detailed below.

When you share remember to use the awareness tags of the ACLU equality campaign:

Katherine Lyra Wakefield was kind enough to share personal details of her journey and why it was important to her to be part of this video. It is an emotional read that concludes with a message echoing that of Blakeslee's:

"Love is the only means we have to counteract hate and violence. More hate and violence will only make things worse. Through understanding and unconditional love there can be a larger "we," a society that cares about the most vulnerable and forgets no one. We have the potential now more than ever. The movements in the 60s were amazing and inspiring but we have to go all the way this time. Love is more powerful than hate. Stay strong and when you're tired, don't give up. Lean on each other and keep going."
- Katherine Lyra Wakefield (read her entire statement here)

The dress Katherine is seen wearing in the final shots was donated by Creatures of the Wind's Shane Gabier and Chris Peters. Vogue applauded the designer's creative response to current events, commenting, "A mean world still has room for beauty."

The video's release comes at a time when transgender rights (among many others) are at risk in our country and around the world. Blakeslee, who has always been a very vocal human-rights activist, believes that it is important to use his platform to help spread knowledge and a sense of understanding. Paying homage to fellow musician and freedom-fighter Woody Guthrie, Blakeslee's guitar dons a note reading "This Machine Kills Fascists" through-out the video. ENTRANCE recently released the protest track "Not Gonna Say Your Name" donating all of the proceeds ($1,000 and counting) to Planned Parenthood.

"Always The Right Time" - Blakeslee's first single from Book of Changes - has gotten strong support from the likes of KEXP and the heir to the John Peel Throne, John Kennedy. This is the first ENTRANCE album in more than a decade, and was released to rave reviews on February 24th via Thrill Jockey. Pitchfork proclaimed "Guy Blakeslee's songs are newly exposed and intimate, telling a story of love and loss with folk, pop, and echoes of Laurel Canyon" and FLOOD Magazine called the album "a welcome creative reawakening that's lyrically stronger and more developed and heart-stirring than anything he's done before."

ENTRANCE's video for "Always The Right Time" is out now and can be viewed HERE and album can be purchased now via Thrill Jockey.
