Exploding onto the pop scene with her infectious breakout hit "My Another Day," Holland, Mich.-based pop songstress Kanisha K (www.kanishakmusic.com) is teaming up with Grammy-winning producer and four-time nominee Jason Miles for a forthcoming single "Stupid Boyfriend."
Miles impressive resume includes work with iconic artists including Miles Davis, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, The Crusaders, Freddy Cole, George Benson, Herb Alpert, Vanessa Williams. He and Kanisha hit Jason's studio, The Clubhouse, in New York City April 14-15 to lay down vocals on the track.
Kanisha has also recently been in
Chicago at Soundbank Recording Studios working on another upcoming single "Bring Me Home" with veteran producer and artist in his own right, Larry King, (Soleil Moon, lead vocalist in the Michael Thompson Band & Larry King Orchestra). Kanisha is working with the city's top musicians including John Blasucci on keyboards, Khari Parker on drums, Lamar Jones on bass and guitarist Chris Siebold.
Enter yet another Grammy winner, Craig Bauer, who's a technical production wizard renowned for having worked with
Kanye West as well as twenty-four other Grammy-winning projects. Bauer is perfecting the final mix of, "Bring Me Home," all while conducting a move to his new LA.
At #5 on the FMQB AC40 Chart, Kanisha K's uplifting single "My Another Day" puts her in company with superstars like
Pharrell Williams, Daughtry, One Direction, Imagine Dragons,
Katy Perry and Lorde.
"My Another Day," which is also up to #36 on the Mediabase A/C chart, was conceived as a healing post-breakup song but adopted by many fans as an anthem about overcoming addiction. It's the follow-up to her first Top Ten single, "I Found Love (Just In Time For Christmas)."
Kanisha K's debut recording was produced by Robyn Robins, longtime keyboardist for Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, and features guitarists Drew Abbott (Bob Seger) and Mark Goldenberg (Jackson Browne); bassist Bob Glaub (Browne, Warren Zevon); saxman Jim Horn, and backup singers Kate Markowitz and Arnold McCuller, renowned for their years performing with legendary singer/songwriter James Taylor. Also appearing is David Lasley, a veteran backup singer and artist. He and McCuller recently appeared in the Oscar-winning documentary "20 Feet From Stardom."
A fan of classic rock since her dad took her to see The Who,
Aerosmith and
Red Hot Chili Peppers when she was a kid, Kanisha is also is a huge fan of the Rolling Stones.
