Ella Vos Premieres MOTHER (DON'T CRY) Video + North American Tour Kicks Off 2/23 Image

Breakout vocalist and songwriter Ella Vos debuts the video for her track, "Mother (Don't Cry)," off of her critically acclaimed debut album, Words I Never Said, today-watch and share via VEVO and YouTube. The video is directed and choreographed by LA-based artist, Ania Catherine, and features sets created by installation artist, Dejha Ti. The video, set in surrealist scenes, follows Vos calmly performing mundane activities then chaotically destroying everything around her. Catherine describes the video as "an empathetic portrait of female rage." Vos is set to tour North America this spring beginning February 23 at The Parish in Austin with further stops in New York, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco and more. London-based singer-songwriter Freya Ridings, known for her pop ballad, "Blackout," will support Vos on tour beginning March 5 at U Street Music Hall in Washington, D.C. See the full list of tour dates below. General Admission and VIP tickets, which include a meet & greet and exclusive merch package, are on sale now at https://www.ellavosvip.com/.

Of the song and video, Vos says, "'Mother (Don't Cry)' is about being in the midst of change, with one foot in the past and one foot in the future. There's a huge range of emotions that I think we commonly experience in those moments-anger, fear and frustration then optimism, hopefulness and peace. Filming this video was an extremely meditative experience. I focused on my simple tasks and took note of how important each step, each drink, each breath was. It felt peaceful at times, but I could also feel anxiety and frustration rising in me. In my expressive moments, I let everything out of my body through my voice and my movements. It's unfortunate because I think as women we are taught to keep ourselves calm and collected, so I don't think many of us get to experience this kind of release." Words I Never Said features Vos' Spotify-viral hits, "White Noise" and "Down in Flames," streamed over 19 million and 22 million times respectively. The album was written in the wake of Vos' son's birth and was inspired by the challenges she faced as both a new mother and artist. Words I Never Said touches on subject matter often seen as taboo, including postpartum depression, abortion, women's reproductive rights and more.

Los Angeles native Ella Vos writes pop with a fierce feminist perspective. Her breakout track, "White Noise," debuted in October 2016; it was featured as the #1 track on Spotify's and Hype Machine's Viral Charts. Rolling Stone hailed the song as "a seductive, gauzy, downtempo offering with enough pop polish to land it on a big soundtrack" and featured Vos as a "New Artist You Need To Know." With more than 100 million streams on Spotify to date, Ella Vos' songs have soundtracked ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," MTV's "Catfish," E!'s "Life of Kylie" and The CW's "The Originals." Recently, Vevo dscvr named Vos one of their 2018 Artists To Watch.
