New Jersey's acoustic electric blues and swing band, Fish Cakes and the Fried Daddies, bring their crowd pleasing and unique blend of classic American music to The Robin's Nest on Friday, September 13 at 9pm. Fish Cakes and the Fried Daddiesare a group of accomplished and world class musicians who together create an original take on New Orleans Gumbo, Road House Blues, swing music, country, blues and R&B. Renowned for their tight vocal arrangements, superb instumentals and entertaining showmanship, Fishcakes and the Fried Daddies deliver an old school mix of good time music tailored for a modern audience.

Billy Courtman (lead guitar, slide guitar, vocals) Starting off as a multi-instrumentalist in East New York with his own blues band, he studied with his mentor, jazz great Lenny Tristano to become one of the most sought after guitar players in the New York music scene. He's played for three presidents with top orchestras, such as the Peter Duchin Orchestra and the Lester Lamin Orchestra. He has shared a lifetime of experience with performers as diverse as Chuck Berry, The Brooklyn Blues Busters, The James Cotton Band to Cyndi Lauper and LaToya Jackson. He teaches and produces from his studio in New Jersey and has just released a CD with his blues band, Wang Dang.

Billy Jones (vocals, mandolin, fiddle, harmonica, piano, ukele and guitar) is a Fast Folk recording artist and a well known figure in the Grennwhich Village folk muisc scene. He has co-billed with the likes of John Hammond, Suzanne Vega, Julie Gold, Shawn Colvin, and Ronnie Blakely to name a few. He has played many NYC folk-rock clubs including The Back Fence, The Bitter End, The Bottom Line and Folk City. Four of his original songs are archived in the Smithsonian Museum.

John Farrell (vocals, rhythm guitar, tenor banjo) first came to NY as a composer for the musical The Country Wife which had a successful off-broadway run. As an actor, as welll as the usual fare of soeaps, commercials, movies and theatre, he proudly toured with Burlesque '87, two improv companies, a Commedia d'elle Arte companies and "The Pearlys", an English Music Hall troupe. He has played with the JC Jug Band, The Ah Sophia Rennaisance Quartet and The River Rats.

Vito Ardito (bass,vocals) also an accomplished musical arranger, toured with the Calypso band, The Tocos, ending up with The Mighty Sparrowat the Atlanta Calypso Festival. Vito was a member of the legendary doo-wop group The Impalas. He has played hotels and clubs along the east coast and the Caribbean including The Little Carnegie Theatre, Holiday Cruise Lines and even on top of The Huntington Harbor Lighthouse.

Vito "Trashcan" Barbara (percussion, vocals) cut his teeth with the famous St. Joseph Drum and Bugle Corps and Manhattan Samba. From there began a forty year career playing with dance bands like The Fabulous Playboys, The Phil Phillps Orchestra, and others; blues with the likes of The Blu-tones, Wig Jones and others; rock with Klondike Bill, Susquehanna and jazz with the St. Albans Gospel and Jazz Orchestra and the Jazz Mobile. Along with Vito Ardito, he also joined the legendary doo-wop group The Impalas.
