Last Saturday, it was announced that multi-platinum songwriter, JACK TEMPCHIN, will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this June. JACK is in great company for the New York City celebration, with 2019's other inductees-Cat Stevens, John Prine, Tom T. Hall, Dallas Austin and Missy Elliott, who is the first female hip-hop artist to ever win the prestigious honor.
Upon learning the news, TEMPCHIN exclaimed, "I am thrilled to be accepted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. All my life, I've always looked forward to the next great song I was going to hear that would move me and make my day. To join the ranks of the people who wrote those songs is a great honor."
Blue Élan Records founder and President, Kirk Pasich, sent a note to staff and label artists and friends, saying, "Please join us in congratulating Jack Tempchin on his upcoming induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Jack is joined in the 2019 class by Dallas Austin, Missy Elliott, Tom T. Hall, John Prine, and Cat Stevens. They're in good company with Jack, whose songs are heard every day, everywhere. Jack was one of the first artists we signed, and it's been wonderful to have him as part of our label family."
TEMPCHIN wrote those songs that we've all danced and sang along to; in addition to the Eagles' "Peaceful Easy Feeling" and"Already Gone," Jack wrote or co-wrote some of Glenn Frey's biggest solo hits, including "The One You Love," "Smuggler's Blues," "You Belong To The City" and "Sexy Girl," "Slow Dancing" (a Top 40 for his band, the Funky Kings, and Johnny Rivers' last Top 10), and many others, including The One You Love" and "It's Your World Now."
Please listen to a playlist of Kirk's 12 favorite Jack Tempchin songs that Blue Élan has been privileged to release here!
Jack can be seen performing "Live" from his home studio every Friday at 5pm via the online platform, StageIt here!
