In the spirit of renewal and dedication to his father's music and audience, Dweezil Zappa is proud to announce one special night on the 50 Years of Frank: Dweezil Zappa Plays Whatever the F@%k He Wants - The Cease and Desist Tour on Fri. Oct. 28 in The Warehouse at FTC.

Dweezil and his band will kick off a 38-city North American tour as part of his yearlong celebration of the 50th anniversary of "Freak Out!" the debut album from Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention.

"Having played my father's music live on tour for the past decade, I've had many opportunities to share the stage with exceptionally talented musicians," says Dweezil. "It's been a thrill and at the same time, a great education. Whether guest musicians or former Frank Zappa band alumni, I've loved having those moments on stage with them."

Dweezil has maintained his core band lineup for several years and found himself in an experimental mood. He made a few alterations to the overall timbre by adding female vocalist Cian Coey, who has remarkable control of her instrument and a nice rock 'n' roll rasp. Also, baritone singer and multi-instrumentalist Dave Luther has been added to sing Frank's vocals.

"Dave is also quite adept at playing challenging horn parts within my dad's music as well as rhythm guitar," says Dweezil. "I have a feeling this will lead to even more opportunities to dig into some more of my father's most complex musical works."

Dweezil is now touring under his birth name, following a claim of alleged "trademark violation" from his brother Ahmet Zappa, head of the Zappa Family Trust, who controls the trademark to Dweezil's long-running, Grammy-winning project, Zappa Plays Zappa. This fall, the Frank Zappa progeny flips off legalities and plays whatever the f@%k he wants on The Cease and Desist Tour that stops in The Warehouse on October 28.

"From faithful readings of some of his father's most avant-garde material - from albums like 'Freak Out!' and '200 Motels' - to soaring guitar solos and a lighthearted, marathon medley of 1980s songs, the concert captured the essence of the late Frank Zappa's music...The compositions and humor sound as fresh as ever in 2016, and Dweezil's interpretation is a wonderful thing to witness, lawyers be damned," said an article from the Detroit Metro Times.
