Now in its fifth season, the American Museum of Natural History's One Step Beyond party series continues with a DJ set by Dirty Projectors in the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Hall of the Universe on Friday, January 20.
During this ongoing party series, guests can dance in the Museum's Rose Center for Earth and Space to the sounds of the biggest names in techno, electronica, hip-hop, and indie rock. Guests can also enjoy a complimentary screening of one of the breathtaking Hayden Planetarium Space Shows. January's feature is Passport to the Universe, narrated by Tom Hanks, which launches visitors on a thrilling trip through space and time. Each ticket also includes one pass to the Museum for future use. Visuals for One Step Beyond are produced by Glowing Pictures.

David Longstreth, aka Dirty Projectors, has released seven albums since 2002, including the album Mount Wittenberg Orca with Björk in June 2010. Longstreth began working on his first album, which was released under his own name, while studying at Yale University. Dirty Projectors' member Amber Coffman will share the turntables.

After starting out in the St. Louis hip-hop scene in college, Skinny partnered with DJ Apt One to begin the Philadelphyinz party in Philadelphia, now in its sixth year, and a monthly at Philly's Silk City Diner. In New York, Skinny and Sammy Bananas work the bi-monthly Players Club party at Pianos, named "best off-night party" by Village Voice. Skinny also travels to gigs across the country and creates mixes. His latest, '(.Y.)," was named MTV Hive's "Mix of the Week."
IMPORT/EXPORT, support
Brooklyn-based IMPORT/EXPORT, aka Handshake, has developed wearable sound systems and homemade instruments over the last decade. As IMPORT/EXPORT, he has been hosting moustache parties and the comedy music podcast "The Flopcast" and has DJ'd alongside Michna, Sammy Bananas, Theophilus London, and Willy Joy.
WHERE: American Museum of Natural History. Guests should enter through the Weston Pavilion entrance on Columbus Avenue at 79th Street.
ADMISSION: Admission to One Step Beyond is $25. Guests must be 21 and present valid ID.
A beer and wine cash bar is available.
