Deva Mahal New Video Indie/Soul powerhouse Deva Mahal (pronounced Diva) releases new video "Fire" today, off debut album Run Deep on Motéma Music. "Fire" was directed by cinematographer John Rutland, and shot in the desert, amidst colorful imagery of neon smoke. Check it out here.

Comments Mahal to Billboard, who premiered the video: "The more you are consumed by the fire, the more you are reborn anew. And each time, you emerge stronger than before."

She elaborates that there is strength in being vulnerable. "This experience has taught me to walk head first into my emotions. The world would be a better place if we could all be less afraid of our feelings, allow ourselves to connect to them, and in turn, connect to others."

Rutland and Mahal's intent was to visually convey the depth of all of that emotion and the internal struggle, while remaining optimistic and hopeful.

"Fire" is the current single off Run Deep, produced by Scott Jacoby (José James, Coldplay), with two tracks produced by Jarrett Wetherell (Beyoncé/FKA Twigs), and a featured track with Allen Stone on "Turnt Up." It's a modern blend of R&B, indie-pop, soul, rock and gospel. Listen here.

Mahal is set to play the Hollywood Bowl on August 1. See upcoming tour dates here.
