Today, Denver-based pysch-blues and soul band Dragondeer announce the release of their debut album, If You Got The Blues, on March 2nd, 2018 via VQ Creative / Kobalt. In celebration of the album release, Dragondeer have announced a hometown headline show at Denver's Bluebird Theater on March 10th, 2018. Tickets are available now at www.dragondeer.com
On If You Got The Blues, Dragondeer teamed up with legendary producer Mark Howard (Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, REM, Neil Young, Lucinda Williams), in the hills of Topanga Canyon, CA. Nestled in the LA mountains, the band drew inspiration from the unfamiliar, pastoral surroundings and the musical legacy of Howard's career. Eric Halborg (vocals, guitar, harmonica) reflects, "Mark Howard is a master who has worked with masters and we are honored to have shared our vision with him." Howard's deft ability to capture Dragondeer's unique voice of pulling from the past while looking to the future to create a compelling new incarnation of American blues, is on display throughout If You Got The Blues.
If You Got the Blues is a testament to Dragondeer's songwriting, musicianship and purity. It's also a personal manifesto for the band, whose belief in a shared human experience and desire to connect in that experience. "It's about sticking by your loved ones and being there for 'em when they need it; raising up your tribe," says Halborg. "We try to do that for each other and those around us so it felt right to name the record in honor of that notion." Every bit as compelling as it is contemplative, as frenetic as it is mollifying, Dragondeer arrives with their debut album which explores the American experience with eyes to both ends of the spectrum of the human heart.
