Deerhoof's defiant attitude has kept fans on their toes for the past 20 years. Their thirteenth full-length album La Isla Bonita breathes the casual, joyous sound of the band at a creative peak. The album reinforces the band's influential place with the aggressive female-fronted acts of today such as Priests, St. Vincent and Perfect Pussy, all the while never losing their sense of adventure ... and humor.

The first La Isla Bonita single revealed was the bold, punk and possibly unexpected track "Exit Only" to an overwhelmingly positive response from fans & media alike. The band has just revealed the second album track "Paradise Girls" which showcases the band's signature minimalist approach, enveloped in nervy feminist funk. Rebelling against the need for patriarchal approval, the song is an aggressive call to strong, smart and sassy women that challenge societal constraints. "Our heroes on this song are Joan Jett, Janet Jackson, Kim Gordon, Kathleen Hanna. It's about how girls are and have always been smarter," says drummer Greg Saunier. "Paradise Girls" premiered with Pitchfork alongside the announcement of their national fall tour and is available to post & share HERE.

La Isla Bonita was co-produced by former journalist-turned-label owner and music producer Nick Sylvester, and recorded in band member Ed Rodriguez' basement studio.
