Atlantic recording group Death Cab for Cutie has officially announced today's release of their ninth studio LP, "Thank You for Today." The album - which includes the chart-topping new single, "Gold Rush" - is available now at all music retailers and streaming services.

"Gold Rush" recently ascended to #1 on the Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart in just its fifth week of release - the band's quickest-ever rise to the top at the format. In addition, "Gold Rush" marks Death Cab for Cutie's fifth single to reach #1 at the format. In addition, "Gold Rush" is now among the top 10 at Alternative radio outlets across the country.

"Gold Rush" was greeted with a tremendous response from fans and critics upon its spring release, with Stereogum heralding the track "one of the best Death Cab singles in recent memory," and NPR declaring "Death Cab for Cutie is back with some pretty great new music." The track is accompanied by a new companion visual, directed by Alex Southam (alt-J, Mumford & Sons) and streaming HERE.

Death Cab for Cutie marked this week's arrival of "Thank You for Today" with a pair of high-profile TV appearances, among them ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! and CBS' The Late Late Show with James Corden. The band also recently performed "Gold Rush" on CBS' The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

"Thank You for Today" was produced and mixed by Rich Costey (Fiona Apple, Franz Ferdinand, Muse), following his previous collaboration with Death Cab for Cutie on the band's 2015 GRAMMY® Award-nominated "KINTSUGI." The LP marks the first Death Cab for Cutie release to see long time bandmates Ben Gibbard, Nick Harmer, and Jason McGerr joined in the studio by new members Dave Depper (Menomena, Fruit Bats, Corin Tucker, Ray Lamontagne) and Zac Rae (My Brightest Diamond, Fiona Apple, Lana Del Rey, Gnarls Barkley). Depper and Rae have both been part of Death Cab's touring band since 2015.

The album - which also includes such acclaimed new tracks as "Autumn Love" and "I Dreamt We Spoke Again" - received its official world premiere earlier this week via an NPR Music First Listen, which declared, "For a band in its third decade... Death Cab hasn't lost its gift for pairing Gibbard's soft ruminations with propulsive arrangements that know just when to sparkle and sway. But even more importantly, Gibbard himself still sings with a sense of purpose, keenly articulating a distinct swirl of nostalgia, loss and hope for new beginnings."

Additional early raves include Entertainment Weekly, which declared "Thank You For Today" to be "a poignant return to form for the band. At just 10 tracks, its brevity is both refreshing and consistently piercing, with frontman Ben Gibbard's storytelling abilities remaining just as steadfast as they were when the group formed 20 years ago in Bellingham, Washington." "Thank You For Today" is "the most immersive alt-rock album you'll hear all year - ????" wrote the UK's Independent. "A new look, [the] five-piece iteration of the band has turned in its most adventurous set of songs yet." "'Thank You For Today' feels like the natural beginning of the next chapter of Death Cab For Cutie, doing so with one of their most 'Death Cab' sounding albums in years," raved Dork, "...it feels like a pivotal moment - a band with an undeniable legacy opening up and becoming something invigoratingly new."

Death Cab for Cutie will celebrate "Thank You for Today" with a much-anticipated fall tour. The dates - which see the 8x GRAMMY® Award-nominated band playing intimate venues and theatres across North America - begin September 24th at Eugene, OR's Hult Center for the Performing Arts and travel through mid-October (see attached itinerary). Support on most dates comes from Charly Bliss; Cold War Kids will support on September 27th. For complete details, please visit www.deathcabforcutie.com.

One dollar from each ticket purchased through the band's website will go towards The Aurora Commons - a Seattle based non-profit organization which offers a safe space for unhoused neighbors to rest, prepare a meal, connect to resources, and collectively create a healthy and vibrant community.

In addition, Death Cab for Cutie has just announced a very special show set for Friday, September 28th at Los Angeles' famed Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Tickets for the exclusive event - which sees support from Charly Bliss - are available now HERE.

What's more, Death Cab for Cutie is currently poised to embark on a series of headline shows and festival performances. The itinerary Las Vegas, NV's Life Is Beautiful Music & Art Festival (September 21), Santiago, Chile's Fauna Primavera (November 10th), Buenos Aires, Argentina's Personal Fest 2018 (November 11th), and São Paulo, Brazil's Popload Festival (November 15th) and Mexico City, Mexico's Corona Capital 2018 (November 18th).
