Death Cab for Cutie Announce Summer Headline Tour Image

8x GRAMMY® Award-nominated Atlantic recording group Death Cab for Cutie has announced details of their upcoming summer tour, kicking off June 7th at Pittsburgh, PA's Stage AE and including stops at such legendary venues as Queens, NY's Forest Hills Stadium (June 15th) and Morrison, CO's Red Rocks Amphitheatre (June 25th) before culminating in an August 11th finale at Los Angeles, CA's Hollywood Bowl (see attached itinerary). Support on the tour will come from a variety of special guests including Mitski, Car Seat Headrest, Lala Lala, and Jenny Lewis - who last toured with the band in 2006.

Fan and Spotify pre-sales begin Tuesday, January 22nd at 10 am (local); all remaining tickets will be released to the general public on Friday, January 25th at 10 am (local). For complete details, please visit www.deathcabforcutie.com.

Today's announcement follows a previously announced spring North American headline run, kicking off March 29th at The Joint in Las Vegas and culminating in a two-night stand at Nashville's venerable Ryman Auditorium on April 16th. Support on this leg will come from special guests My Brightest Diamond. In addition, Death Cab for Cutie will make their only announced North American festival appearance with a top-billed performance at Dover, DE's Firefly Music Festival on Saturday, June 22nd. All dates come in support of Death Cab for Cutie's critically acclaimed ninth studio LP, 2018's THANK YOU FOR TODAY (available at all DSPs and streaming services HERE).

The summer tour announcement is joined by the release of a stunning new version of THANK YOU FOR TODAY's latest single, "Northern Lights," remixed by Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails). The track is available now for streaming and download HERE. An array of additional remixes - including "Summer Years," reworked by none other than Ben Gibbard's Postal Service bandmate Jimmy Tamborello in his first ever remix of a Death Cab for Cutie song - can be heard now at the official Death Cab for Cutie YouTube channelHERE.

This week, Death Cab for Cutie will be headline guests on NPR's Live From Here with Chris Thile (Saturday, January 19th), performing live from the Durham, NC's Performing Arts Center, followed by a performance of "Northern Lights" - a top 5 favorite at Triple A radio outlets nationwide - on NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers, set for Monday, January 21st. The band previously performed "Northern Lights" on CBS' The Late Late Show with James Corden, streaming HERE.

After these performances, the band will cross the Atlantic for a marathon tour of the United Kingdom and Europe, including long sold out stops in Ireland, England, Belgium, and Germany. Support on those dates comes from The Beths. From there, the band head to Australia and New Zealand for a series of March headline shows, including two nights at the world-famous Sydney Opera House on March 11th and 12th.

THANK YOU FOR TODAY - which includes the chart-topping hit single, "Gold Rush" as well as such acclaimed tracks as "Autumn Love" and "I Dreamt We Spoke Again" - was greeted with wide ranging critical praise upon its August 2018 release, with NPR declaring: "For a band in its third decade... Death Cab hasn't lost its gift for pairing Gibbard's soft ruminations with propulsive arrangements that know just when to sparkle and sway." Entertainment Weekly hailed the LP as "a poignant return to form for the band. At just 10 tracks, its brevity is both refreshing and consistently piercing, with frontman Ben Gibbard's storytelling abilities remaining just as steadfast as they were when the group formed 20 years ago in Bellingham, Washington." THANK YOU FOR TODAY is "the most immersive alt-rock album you'll hear all year," wrote the UK's Independent. In a four-starred rave "THANK YOU FOR TODAY feels like the natural beginning of the next chapter of Death Cab for Cutie," enthused Dork, "doing so with one of their most 'Death Cab' sounding albums in years... It feels like a pivotal moment - a band with an undeniable legacy opening up and becoming something invigoratingly new."

Death Cab for Cutie has spent much of the past year on the road celebrating THANK YOU FOR TODAY, their epic schedule highlighted by intimate theatre performances, sold out headline shows, benefit concerts, and top billed sets at festivals across both North and South America. The band also made a series of high profile TV appearances, including performances of "Gold Rush" on CBS's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Late Late Show with James Corden, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and the nationally syndicatedEllen DeGeneres Show.
