Canadian Jazz Vocalist Deanne Matley is thrilled to announce the release of her next single, Love Him Forever, and corresponding music video on May 10, 2019 - just in time for Mother's Day and the start of the wedding season.
Love Him Forever was inspired by Matley's experiences as an in-demand wedding performer, and her realization that there are plenty of songs to choose from when it comes to Father-Daughter dances, but few that highlight the special relationship between Mother and Son.
"Too often I have asked wedding clients if there will be a Mother-Son dance and the answer is usually no. Love Him Forever will change that," Matley said.
"The bond between a mother and son is extremely powerful. It is how young men learn to be in relationships with women, and how a man is with his mother is a sign of how he will show up with me in the relationship," she added.
Known for her pure but powerful voice and moving lyrics, Matley has made a name for herself as a jazz artist across Canada and beyond. Love Him Forever is broken down into three elements - a mother's conversation with her soon to be daughter-in-law, her self-reflection on how much her son means to her, and finally, a conversation with her son to remind him of all the things she has taught him about being a good, supportive, loving man.
"Most importantly the last one," Matley said. "Because this is where it truly starts: the powerful wisdom of a mother."
Matley's passion for jazz and performance have taken her from her birthplace of Calgary, Alberta to destinations including Montréal, New York, France, and Mongolia. Her five studio albums have garnered her spots on top jazz playlists in Canada, the United States and Europe, and in the hearts of listeners around the world. Her latest and most ambitious album, Because I Loved, came out in May 2018 and reached #6 on the Canadian National Jazz charts. She'll be releasing another full album in 2020. Matley's work has been featured in Downbeat, ICI Musique (CBC Quebec) and was a 2018 nominee as the "Industry Person of the Year" for the YYC Music Awards in her hometown of Calgary.
