Sad Bangers Vol. 1, the debut EP fromCurtis Lowe-the new electronic music project from NYC-based producer Conor Cook-is out now via the Spotify Direct program.

The music is receiving early critical buzz with Some Kind of Awesomecalling it "hypnotic floor filler with 90s era-esque house vibes," while EDM Sauce furthers its "a delicious little piece of deep melodic house." Additionally, lead single "Breaking Me" was also featured on Apple Music's Hot Tracks (Dance) Playlist #1. Listen/stream the full EP HERE.

Sad Bangers Vol. 1 was produced by Cook, who also plays guitar on every track. The songs were all co-written by Cook and the featured vocalists. The record includes collaborations with vocalist Naomi Wild, RCA artistTOMI, Ben Duffy of the UK bandFenech-Soler, and James King of Fitz and the Tantrums.

Of the music, Cook explains, "I wanted to create modern a sound that is based around classic house elements and good songs. I've been writing with some great musicians and friends over the last year and am excited to begin releasing music under Curtis Lowe. The songwriting happened in a variety of sessions in NYC and LA, but most of the production was done alone in my apartment in Brooklyn over the last year. I drew a lot of the inspiration for the sonics of the project from 90's/Chicago house music, married with modern production elements, and darker songwriting themes. Organic instrumental performances are an important part of these songs as well. The EP features tons of guitar, sax, and analog synths (Juno 106, SH101, Prophet, and Moog Sub 37 etc), alongside plenty of 909 samples. I'm really excited about the collaborations on this EP and look forward to releasing a lot more music in the coming months."

Leif Podhajsky, who has created album art for Tame Impala, Foals, and Bonobo among others, provided artwork for the project. "Visual art is an equally important part of this project," adds Cook. "I am obsessed with album artwork and so I was excited to get the chance to work with Leif Podhajsky on this project. I've been a huge fan of his designs for years and we have a bunch of cool visual artwork that we'll be putting out over the next few months."
