Acclaimed songwriter, singer, film & television composer and Shudder To Think frontman Craig Wedren shared the video for his track "2PRIESTS (Single Mix)" today via PopMatters, along with a new feature. The track is from his late-2018 release Adult Desire Expanded, an album that features the 14 tracks originally found on his experimental, electro-acoustic and highly melodic 2017 album Adult Desire and eight additional songs including new and alternate versions of some of the original album's songs. The video was co-directed by Wedren and longtime friend Michael Patrick Jann (The State, Reno 911!) and can be seen here: https://youtu.be/_LcIQi_bQE8.
Wedren notes, "I had some ideas for a video--California, David Hockney, nature footage, environmental disasters, and the oh-so-topical 'bubbles' in which we all live.... I called my good friend--and brilliant director--Michael Patrick Jann, a longtime collaborator since college (he was in, and directed much of, The State) and we dove in. Michael and I shot and processed virtually the entire video on our phones, each of us sending clips back and forth for individual mangling in an almost Exquisite Corpse-like process, working together for a few hours at the very end for the final edit you see here. We hope it triggers your synapses just so."
Craig is also set to head out on a number of live dates with The Messthetics (featuring Brendan Canty and Joe Lally from Fugazi). See dates listed below.
In the early 1990s, Craig got his hands on a Polaroid Spectra and used it to document his late nights and early mornings on the road with his band Shudder to Think and time with friends including Fugazi, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, members of The State and more. He has compiled those photos into My '90s--a limited edition book and upcoming art exhibit opening in San Francisco, CA on March 7 at The Loin (914 Larkin St., San Francisco, CA). The photos range from shots of life on the road to candid moments, to time in the studio with his band, actors on set during the filming of Wet Hot American Summer and Laurel Canyon--both of which he scored, and much more. A limited edition run of hard-bound books featuring the prints will also be available in-person at the gallery and online via Wedren's website (http://www.craigwedren.com).
Throughout his illustrious career, Craig Wedren has made a name for himself in the world of film & television beginning with soundtrack work for the late-'90s films High Art and First Love, Last Riteswhich he worked on with his bandmates in Shudder to Think. His recent projects include scoring the NBC hit show New Amsterdam and GLOW (Netflix). His resume of composing and scoring for film and television projects includes the Wet Hot American Summer movie and television series, Role Models, The School of Rock, Afternoon Delight, Laurel Canyon, Reno 911!, The State, How to Be A Latin Lover, and much more. Up next, Wedren and friend Anna Waronker (That Dog!) are set to score the premiere season of Hulu's highly anticipated series Shrill starring Saturday Night Live's Aidy Bryant
