In a country music scene influenced by a relentless parade of Nashvillesque pop sounds, it is refreshing to hear a group come to the party through a new window. The Conscious Rednecks' unique offering that ranges from classic country to edgy Americana, echoes back to groups like The Band and writers like Kristofferson and Henley. This group of talented musicians offers listeners honest and well-crafted songwriting and well produced tracks.
The 'Rednecks' are a band of seasoned veterans well-known to the west coast music scene. With session master Shawn Soucy on drums, country veteran George L. Wolf on bass, producer, engineer and guitarist Ted Tosoff creating the sounds behind the vocals and well-crafted lyrics of songwriter Lloyd Tosoff, this band produces its own distinctive brand of country.
Their debut release, "One Shot at a Time" is a poignant classic about a rising star that falls prey to the demon of alcohol. An excerpt from the song brings back memories of so many great singers lost to the scourge of addiction over the years, in particular one of the greatest country voices of all time, Keith Whitley.
"Now they still play 'im on the radio every now and then |
He could sing like a homesick angel guess his raisin' hell was heaven sent |
Now we all tried to warn him but he wouldn't go dry" |
This is a group with great things to come so watch for the Conscious Rednecks' first single on country radio in the coming weeks and for their upcoming CD, "Beyond the Shadow of a Doubt" in the late fall of 2015.
