Singer/songwriter/musician Cooper Getschal loves his country and he wants everyone to know it. Deeply affected by the loss of lives among our armed forces serving in the Middle East and by the pain of separation during the holiday season, Getschal wrote a Christmas song, which he hopes will serve as a lyrical message of love, thanks and appreciation for the efforts of all our men and women in uniform.

In a recent interview, Coop, as he is affectionately known, told me that he was hoping to offer use of his song – My Christmas Wish – to civilian organizations working on behalf of the military. "My Christmas Wish is a two-generation collaboration over 50 years in the making and is reminiscent of the movies and songs of WWII -- a time when building the morale of our soldiers and citizens was a top priority,” The collaboration Coop was referring to was the one he shared with his late mother, also a songwriter.

Getschal’s dream is that stateside family members of active duty military will be photographed holding placards filled with Christmas wishes meant for their husbands, wives, sons, daughters, family and friends overseas. He would then gather those photos into a video scrapbook, using his song as background music. The result of these efforts will, hopefully, raise a little money, which will help to fund efforts all year long.

So far, Getschal has gotten some positive feedback from a number of groups which send care packages to our troops. Details are still being finalized, but not wanting to waste a minute, he created a video expressing his personal holiday greetings and thanks to the troops.
