Chela Shares New Single SHUT YOU UP Feat. Banoffee Image

Australian indie pop artist Chela has revealed a new take on her latest single "Shut You Up" feat. Banoffee HERE remixed by Future Classic's Hi Life. Released via IHC 1NFINITY, Hi Life's remix offers a high energy rework of the powerhouse single. The original track shows off Chela's songwriting and production range, complemented by fellow Australian Banoffee's harmonic vocals. In the accompanying visuals here, directed by Chela, the pair find themselves trying to escape an addictive mobile video game that is infecting the world around them.

Hi Life are a Canberra-formed, Sydney-based duo comprised of producers Tom Spira and Harry Patrick - simply introducing themselves: "We're releasing their debut single on Nov 9, so not much press yet. They've done a mix on Triple J, been the Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist and supported SOPHIE."

The pair first connected via Canberra's Strangeways parties. When Tom moved to Melbourne, the like-minded DJ/producers stayed in touch by sharing projects back-and-forth on the internet. "Whenever we were in the same city, we'd go together into our bedroom studio," Harry recalls. Both inspired by the bubbling sounds of Jersey Club and PC Music, the pair set out to put their spin on what Harry calls "the future-leaning clubby stuff we were excited about." The duo's previous releases, including "So Good," "Slide" and "When I Get To the Club" have propelled them to breakout success, including a support slot for SOPHIE in December 2016 and being named a Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist.

Australian/Filipino artist Chela landed on the scene when she self-released her first single "Plastic Gun," co-produced with Ben Ely (Regurgitator). The musician, songwriter, producer, and filmmaker followed that track with 2013's "Romanticise" via French tastemaker label Kitsuné, co-produced with DCUP. The song quickly gained international attention leading to performances at SXSW and Coachella, as well as tours supporting Classixx and The Presets on their respective North American runs. In 2017 Chela released her single "Bad Habit," recorded with Chris Zane (Passion Pit, Holy Ghost!, Les Savy Fav) via NPR, who called it, "a complex and desperate piece of pop music." Her latest track with Banoffee follows collaborations with Seth Bogart, Clubfeet, and work on Goldroom's summer anthem "Fifteen" which has over 15 million views on YouTube and over 8 million plays on Spotify.

Following a 2017 relocation to Los Angeles, 2018 has seen Banoffeecollaborate with the likes of SOPHIE, HTML flowers, and l8loomer as well as join Charli XCX's live band, touring with her as she supports Taylor Swift's Reputation World Tour. With her new material Banoffee is aiming to be less introspective - the songs remain dark, though seek to inspire contentment instead. Banoffee is interested in the future of a more hyper textualized vein of pop, one that pushes its listeners outside of their comfort zone.
