Today, March For Our Lives Los Angeles announced that multiple GRAMMY nominated, multi-platinum singer/songwriter/producer Charlie Puth will perform at the March in Los Angeles, which will be held at 9AM in Downtown Los Angeles on March 24 in solidarity with the national March For Our Lives taking place in Washington, D.C. on the same date. March For Our Lives is a student-led campaign to demand an end to the epidemic of mass school shootings and prioritize the lives of young people nationwide.
March For Our Lives Los Angeles will kick-off on the corner of 6th Avenue and Spring Street in Downtown Los Angeles. Participants will march together to Los Angeles City Hall and Grand Park for the rally, which will bring together the voices of students, teachers, community leaders, elected officials and artists to honor and the 17 lives tragically claimed in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018 and to demand immediate action on gun control. In addition to Puth--the first artist who has been announced to participate---students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Rebecca Mieliwocki, the 2012 National & California Teacher of the Year under President Obama, William LeGate, the 23 year-old entrepreneur who is one of the leaders of the #BoycottNRA movement on Twitter and many others will also take the stage to speak at March for Our Lives Los Angeles.
"I am honored to be performing at March For Our Lives Los Angeles," said Charlie Puth. "It has been incredibly inspiring to see students across the country organize and mobilize and I am grateful to be able to lend my voice to their call for action."
March For Our Lives Los Angeles also announced that Everytown for Gun Safety, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, Women's March Los Angeles Foundation and the Mayor Tom Bradley 100th Anniversary Organization have signed on as official partners to support the student-led initiative.
"It's amazing to see so many talented people and impactful organizations rally behind our call for change and lend their time and talent to ensure that our call for action from Los Angeles will reverberate across the country," said Riley Helberg, student organizer for the March for our Lives Los Angeles. "We are grateful to student organizers in Florida for their leadership in planning March For Our Lives and we are honored to march in solidarity with them. This problem has existed for far too long and if there is any group that can finally change the course of history, we feel confident that it's us young people."
The collective voices of the March For Our Lives movement will be heard through nearly 500 solidarity marches taking place across the country. For a complete list of marches, please click here.
