Charles Fox to be Awarded TAXI's Living Legend Award, 11/4

EMMY and GRAMMY award winning composer, Charles Fox, will receive TAXI's Living Legend Award at the 15th annual TAXI Road Rally on the morning of Friday, November 4th, 2011. TAXI is the world's leading independent A&R company. Since 1992, TAXI has specialized in giving artists, bands, and songwriters' real access to the people in the music business that have the power to sign deals. The 2,500 event attendees of this years Road Rally consist of musicians songwriters, artists and composers from all over the United States and more than 40 countries.

You may not instantly recall his name, but music lovers and TV audiences everywhere will immediately recall the work of Charles Fox. He has composed more than 100 motion picture and television scores, among them the themes of many iconic series, including Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Love, American Style, Wonder Woman and Love Boat, as well as "Wide World of Sports" and "Monday Night Football" among many others.

"Charlie Fox's music is like mail from home! There's a comfort and a longing to his melodies. For me they're 'heart songs,' guaranteed to 'kill you softly!'" says Paul Williams.

Twice nominated for the Academy Award, the two-time Emmy winning composer and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee who has written music for the concert hall and the ballet will soon become part of America's historic legacy at the Smithsonian Institute in late 2010. Among the hundreds of songs he has written is the Grammy Award-winning "Killing Me Softly with His Song," a number one record in just about every country in the world, by two different artists: Roberta Flack in 1973 and the Fugees, 20 years later.

Scarecrow Press proudly announced that after the success of Emmy & Grammy winner Charles Fox's memoirs, "Killing Me Softly: My Life in Music," it will be released in trade paper in Oct, 2011, prior to his 16 city promotional tour, signing the book and singing his songs including: Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, D.C., San Gabriel/Pomona, San Diego, Houston, Palo Alto, Naples, Sarasota, Richmond, Atlanta, New York, Honolulu, Santa Monica, Chicago, as well as a featured author at the Los Angeles Library's Annual Literary Private Gala and more. In this memoir, Fox recounts his development as a musician, beginning with his formal music education in Paris. A particularly exciting and evocative portion of the memoir is the remarkable original letters he wrote home from Paris between 1959 and 1961, which were found among his mother's belongings. Fox recounts his studies under the tutelage of the most renowned music composition teacher of the 20th century, Nadia Boulanger, whose influence Fox carried throughout his entire professional career. Following his return to the states, Fox describes the cornerstone events of his musical and personal life. He reflects on the highlights of his career, working with some of the greatest names in entertainment, film, television, and records, including Jim Croce, Barry Manilow, Lena Horne, and Fred Astaire. Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2004 and a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Composers & Lyricists, Fox's memoir is a compelling story of a musician and composer whose work continues to entertain and inspire listeners around the world.

This definitive multimedia site overviews Charles amazing 50 plus years as one of the music industries most prolific and talented composers. "Killing Me Softly: My Life in Music" with a foreword by Roberta Flack, will be available to the public in Oct, 2011 and details a legacy of music that has been kept the public singing for years.
