Minneapolis's Carroll are a four-piece specializing in making dreamy pop tunes with a blend of wurly synths and fuzzy, reverb-dipped guitar leads. This musical identity is showcased on the band's exemplarily lead single, "Alligator," with a collection of guitar riffs being introduced and built up into a pseudo-orchestral swirl. The synth is pulled more into the focus on the ethereal "Green Acres," while a more eclectic group of psychedelic guitar hits, flangy sweeps, and feedback loops dance on top of the synth foundation.

Written in a cabin out in the remote Northern wilderness, the demos found their way into the hands of producer Jon Low (The War on Drugs, The National), who had the band come to Philadelphia where they recorded and mixed the album in an 18-day marathon.
