Caleb Steph Releases Debut EP BELLWOOD PRODUCT

Bursting onto the scene earlier this year with 'Can I Talk' and 'Trapped', 20-year-old Virginia rapper Caleb Steph has revealed his debut project Bellwood Product, accompanied by an emotionally charged visual for new track 'Black Boy'.

Bellwood Product - named after the apartments where Caleb was raised - is a poignant and arresting document of his life in Virginia, as he details the environment and events that shaped his upbringing. With most of the production helmed by revered G-Unit producerSha Money XL, Bellwood Product winds through turns of soulful reflection on tracks like 'Black Boy' and 'Special', towards blunt-edged and cutting songs like 'Trapped' and 'No Games'. Whether laid back or abrasive in his delivery, the project encompasses the complexities of Caleb's story.

Further contextualising the issues raised within the EP, Caleb has released a video for 'Black Boy', which was shot in the projects of his hometown of Newport News, Virginia.

Of the video and EP, Caleb said "Bellwood Product and the Black Boy visual are strictly for/of the people. Being a voice for myself and the voice of the unheard. The voices that scream quietly in a sense of fear. Fear of the world around them and fear of the unknown. I am you. Caleb Steph, no ego, just a voice of my muhfin people. This is just the beginning."

With a cast consisting completely of Caleb's family, friends and members of his community, the video neatly juxtaposes childhood innocence within a disenfranchised environment as the distressing lyrics detail issues the communities face relating to gun violence, police brutality and gang rivalries.

Coming a long way from his high school days where he honed his craft for the future career he envisioned, Caleb Steph is steadily plotting his ascension to Hip-Hop's forefront, making the first step with his debut EP Bellwood Product.
