CMH Records To Reissue Legacy Bluegrass Titles In Digital Format

CMH Records (County. Music. Heritage.) maintains a rich history of classic bluegrass albums and is celebrating several of these legacy releases by remasteringthem all, while making them available in digital format for the first time ever. Beginning Friday, May 25, Take A Little Time from Curly Seckler & The Nashville Grass (featuring special guest Johnny Cash and a young Marty Stuart), Smokin' Bluegrassfrom Bobby Smith & The Boys From Shiloh (With Special Guest Josh Graves), and the 30th Anniversary Album from Don Reno & The Tennessee Cut-Ups will be available via all digital retailers and streaming outlets.

First released in 1980, Curly Seckler & The Nashville Grass' Take A Little Timewas the first release from the group following founder Lester Flatt's passing, and features vocals by Johnny Cash on "What's Good for You" and "Mother Maybelle," as well as performances from a young Marty Stuart. Seckler wasn't much for book learning, as folks used to say, but with his string tenor and his trademark flip at the end of a line, few ever lived with as thorough an understanding of how to sing this music. He started with Lester Flatt & The Nashville Grass in '71 and stuck with Lester until his passing 8 years later. Seckler kept The Nashville Grass going for more than a decade, along with longtime member Marty Stuart, who later went on to win multiple GRAMMY and Country Music Awards as a solo artist. Seckler was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2004 and the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in 2010.

Tennessee native Bobby Smith began singing and playing guitar by the time he was ten years old. His talents have been seasoned by years of professional work, both in other's groups (including a stint as lead singer for Bill Monroe) and as leader of The Boys From Shiloh. Their classic 1978 LP Smokin' Bluegrass is proof of this. Bobby tempers his solid bluegrass roots with versatility and an open mind, enabling him to perform material ranging from the classic "Fifteen Miles From Birmingham" to then-contemporary songs such as "Let Your Love Flow" and "Down On The Corner" with equal grace and ease. His lead vocals are well-supported by the solid picking and singing of The Boys From Shiloh. Additionally, Bobby's longtime friend Josh Graves adds his own spark to the album along with guest fiddler Vassar Clements.

Don Reno & The Tennessee Cut-Ups' 30th Anniversary Album marks their 60th album recorded together. Legendary banjo player Don Reno was best known for his partnerships with guitarist Red Smiley and later Bill Harrell, as well as recording the original "Feuding Banjos" with Arthur Smith (made famous in the movie Deliverance). Reno developed his own three finger "single-string" style that allowed him to play scales and complicated fiddle tunes note-for-note on the banjo. His style encompasses much more than just single-string picking; double-stops, double-time picking, triple-pull offs-all of these, and other techniques make Reno's playing recognizable and revered. He was posthumously inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor in 1992.
