Burl's Creek Event Grounds today confirmed that Jason Collett is playing the Peacock Stage at this week's OK Friday Barn Fair. There will also be two special performances by the Neema Children's Choir, a group of Ugandan orphans who previously performed in Oro-Medonte in 2014 to much fanfare and glowing praises. The art and farmers market, which has grown substantially since its launch last month with well over 700 people now attending weekly, will be taking up permanent residency in the restored 1920s barn this coming Friday.

"To have the Nema Children's Choir, led by Pastor Daniel Mutiibwa, return to Oro-Medonte to perform at the OK Friday Barn Fair is a tremendous honour, and we are proud to host them in the community," said Ryan Howes, vice-president, operations, Burl's Creek Event Grounds. "We're also thrilled to have Jason Collett join us this Friday. Not only is he a talented musician, but he's also a skilled carpenter and actually built the peacock backdrop for our stage from salvaged lumber from the grounds. We're encouraging everyone to come down to OK Friday, enjoy the performances and take in the beauty of the centerpiece of Burl's Creek with the opening of our restored barn."

The Burl's Creek Event Grounds program of salvaging wood from around the property includes a tuck shop built from old barn boards, dressing tables, benches, stools and farmers market booths made from beams taken from several old barns as well as reclaimed wood from the site. In addition, the coasters and serving platters that will adorn artist dressing rooms, catering and offices have been cut by neighbouring woodsmiths. The 1920s barn, set to play home to OK Friday, is fast becoming a monument of Oro-Medonte on a site that exemplifies the township's motto of 'Proud Heritage and Exciting Future.' With its white pine siding highlighting the original post and beam construction, this barn is already a historic landmark for the region. ?
