Bulgarian singer-songwriter Ruth Koleva announces her sophomore album Confidence. Truth set for release on March 30th. Featuring Ron Avant (Anderson .Paak) on keys,Jameel Bruuner (The Internet) on synths, and Gene Coye (Flying Lotus) on drums, the album features the work of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra and was produced byGueorgiu Linev (Kan Wakan). A deeply personal collection of songs rooted in soul and jazz, the album effortlessly shifts from melancholic studio confessions to epic, euphoric anthems.
Today, Koleva shares new single 'I Don't Know Why' with BlackBook. Lending a deeper insight into her character, the track explores how her mood is always "swinging with the wind," and yet there is always someone by her side. The song is big, highly evocative, and grooves like vintage Jamiroquai or Brand New Heavies.
Born into the hardship of post-communist Eastern Europe, Koleva quickly developed into a rounded artist. After multiple excursions into the local Bulgarian music scene and a stint at the Hollywood Pop Academy, she released her debut album and scooped the top prize at the BG Radio Awards in 2014. In the time since, she has shared the stage with ten-time Grammy Award winning jazz vocalist Bobby McFerrin and performed two sold-out concerts at Bulgaria Hall with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchesra.
'Confidence. Truth' mirrors the restless spirit and growth of Kovela herself as she flirts with the past, confronts her demons, and finds joy in rediscovering herself. Stay tuned as she prepares for release on March 30th!
