Three distinct, colourful eras - Melbourne, London, Los Angeles - and on the heels of their tenth anniversary, Australian indie darlings Buchanan have decided to go out on top with one final project, years in the making.
On January 25th the band are set to release their first ever mixtape, and final ever release,The Crayon Collection. The mixtape includes four recently finalised tracks from each era of the band, returning with frequent collaborators including 2018's MPG Producer of the Year Catherine Marks (Foals, Wolf Alice), 4x GRAMMY winner Anthony Kilhoffer (Kanye West, Kid Cudi) and renowned London producer Simon Duffy (Leftfield, Mr Hudson). Street singles from the mixtape released last year have already amassed half a million streams.
Reflecting on their history, lead-singer Josh Simons released a statement on Facebook this morning,"Over the course of two albums and three EPs we got to experience everything an artist can ever dream of: live TV performances, international radio play, millions of streams, awards, festivals and arenas, not to mention chart impressions in every continent... With this final release and accompanying videos we wanted to capture the entire spectrum of sound, colour and experiences from over the years as we evolved."
Simons' immediate focus will turn to his role as CEO of the world's largest music social network Vampr, and to songwriting duties for other artists, which to-date have collected over ten million streams.
To celebrate this amazing journey with their fans the band have assembled a brand new, retrospective videoclip for the mixtape's lead single 'An Uncommon Experience', out today.
