DJ Mag's Best of NORTH AMERICA Awards, 'Best Breakthrough DJ'-nominee, Brian Cid, reveals the next chapter in his rapid ascent as a Brooklyn ambassador of melodic techno with the launch of ENDANGERED, a new event concept series and record label. Co-produced by Stranger Than on Friday, April 27 from 10pm-5am at a secret Brooklyn location, ENDANGERED will be a night of immersive performance, like-minded talents, Brian Cid and more.
After releases on Guy J's Lost & Found, Hot Since 82's Knee Deep In Sound, Germany's Get Physical Music, and a recent inclusion on Tale of Us' fabric 97 compilation mix, Brian Cid takes to ENDANGERED with the release of his 'Intriga' EP for the official label and event series launch. With several of Brian Cid's latest productions enjoying support from Tale of Us, Richie Hawtin, Damian Lazarus, Pete Tong and more, the EP is sure to make an impression on today's top tune selectors and educated listeners.
Speaking on the label and event series launch, Brian Cid says, "ENDANGERED is a full sensory experience that explores a 'near end of the world' scenario through high performance art, spacey visuals and eclectic dance music - one that resembles my own sonic style. ENDANGERED is more than a music label. It's an ideal, a movement, the ultimate form of artistic and spiritual expression."
As a leading ambassador of the Brooklyn underground, the 'Intriga' EP, out May 4 via his own imprint ENDANGERED, reinforces Brian Cid as a worthy flag carrier of the new wave of techno full of emotional journeys and deep percussive themes. Opening the five-track EP, "The Space Above" quickly sets an atmosphere of deep textures before diving into bursting chords that lead into the hypnotically driven "Fantasio". Loaded with reverberating hi-hats and snares, percussion heavy "Petalos Sole" prepares listeners for the tension building lead title track "Intriga" as its main motif journeys through waves of effects and striking synths. Rounding out the EP with its longest offering, "Vacio" features a futuristic arpeggiating melody between echoing pads and scattered crescendos.
Spending the past year touring the world with headline shows in Berlin, Amsterdam, Cape Town, Beirut, as well as playing alongside Afterlife favorites Adriatique at Teksupport's _OTB event series in Brooklyn, Brian Cid looks to create a new platform for innovative sounds emanating out of New York City. Transforming a yet-to-be-announced Brooklyn location, attendees can expect an immersive and participatory nightlife experience filled with interactive live performance artists, dancers and dystopian decor.
Brian Cid's 'Intriga' EP will be available on ENDANGERED on May 4 via Beatport.
