The BMI "Pick of the Month" is a showcase series focusing on a band or artist, this month featuring The Lighthouse and the Whaler, Thursday, May 12, 2011. Show begins at 7 p.m. at Pianos (158 Ludlow St, NYC 10002).

The Lighthouse and The Whaler is an unsigned band from Cleveland, OH, with what MTV describes as "really cool melodic folk-rock... and a live show you've got to check out for yourself." The Lighthouse and the Whaler has caught the attention of Paste, FILTER, Under the Radar, KEXP, Fuse, Spinner and other media outlets, while sharing stages with Sufjan Stevens, The Temper Trap, The Dodos and other artists. After booking itself over 110 shows at venues like House of Blues, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Rockwood Music Hall, the band is preparing to record its second full-length album with producer Ryan Hadlock (Ra Ra Riot, Johnny Flynn, Blonde Redhead).
