BRENDA LEE EAGER, the legendary American soul singer, songwriter and recording artist who is best known for her chart topping performances of pop songs like "Ain't Understanding Mellow," "Close To You" and "Somebody's Somebody," has just been added to the lineup of Blues performers who will shake it up on Labor Day Weekend at the 1st Annual Southern California MADCatfish Blues Festival La Qu?tta M. Shamblee, Producer of the event announced today. "Brenda Lee Eager will appear as a singer with the Yu Ooko Band on Saturday, September 5th as part of the two-day Blues Festival," Shamblee said.

Jerry Butler recorded several singles, the first of which, "Ain't Understanding Mellow," reached #3 on the Billboard R&B chart and #21 on the Hot 100. The song sold over one million copies and was awarded a Gold Disc by the Recording Industry Association of America. Their duet version of "(They Long to Be) Close To You" was rated #6 on the R&B chart and #91 on the pop chart in 1972. Eager found her voice at the tender age of three when she began singing in church in her hometown of Lower Peachtree, AL. Eager has worked with artists such as Diana Ross, Roberta Flack, Smokey Robinson, Teena Marie, Donny Hathaway, Graham Nash, Ray Charles, Mavis Staples, and Stevie Wonder, to name a few.

September 5 and 6, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
A Comedy and Blues Juke Joint will be held from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. on
September 5th in the Santa Anita Concourse Room. The event will be emceed by Ernest L. Thomas ("Everybody Hates Chris," "The Jeffersons," "What's Happening!!") and feature popular comics King Kedar, Keith Morris and Edwonda White. Singer and Song Stylist, Marguaret Love with also appear at the Juke Joint with her Band. The Juke Joint will feature a gumbo mix of entertainment, including: table games like playing cards and dominoes, an Open Mic, comic and musical performances and dancing. Food and Drinks will also be available for purchase.
