Her, the rising French duo of Victor Solf and Simon Carpentier, will release Her Tape #2, the follow up to their critically acclaimed tape, Her Tape #1, on April 7. The first single "SWIM" premieres today accompanied by an animated lyric video via Pigeons & Planes-watch and listen here. Her Tape #2 is available now for pre-order here.
Solf and Carpentier are the vocalists, songwriters, producers and multi-instrumentalists behind Her. Their upcoming six-track tape is a continuation of their exploration of women, love, relationships and feminism. In Her Tape #2, the pair examines maternal love between a mother and child and physical love between partners. The first single "SWIM," premiering today, explores the idea of embracing differences.
Of "SWIM," Solf says, "We're living in troubled times marked by renewed violence, social regression and the rise of extremism. As artists, we wanted to put across a positive message, encouraging people to think differently and accept their own and others' uniqueness."
Solf and Carpentier, natives of Germany and France, respectively, met while attending high school in France and formed the duo Her a few years later. Her wrote, produced and self-released their debut single, "Quite Like," on SoundCloud in 2015. It attracted an international audience, as listeners were drawn to the mysterious voices behind the track. In 2016, the duo released Her Tape #1, which has garnered over 4 million streams to date. Her quickly became a global success and performed sold out tours and festivals in Europe, the U.K. and the United States. Her's "Five Minutes" is featured in Apple's Shot on iPhone campaign-watch here. Further music from Her is set for release this year. The band will play select North American dates this summer.
