Breaking Glass Pictures Explores the Dark Side of Nature in Upcoming Film MOSS Out July 10 Image

Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired North American rights to the stunning, coming-of-age tale MOSS by writer/director Daniel Peddle. Breaking Glass acquired rights to the film in April in a deal negotiated between Breaking Glass CEO Rich Wolff and Oration Films CEO, Timothy O'Brien, worldwide sales agent for the title. The film will open theatrically in New York and Los Angeles on July 6 followed by a DVD & VOD release on July 10, 2018.

Described as a film that immerses audiences "in nature and its yearning characters" through "a memorable study of solitude and connection" (The Hollywood Reporter), MOSS stars Mitchell Slaggert (Wish Upon, Write When You Get Work, "Diablo Guardian"), Christine Marzano (Seven Psychopaths,Paranoia, Death Race), Dorian Cobb ("Law & Order: SVU", "The Get Down"), and Billy Ray Suggs. The film is written and directed by Daniel Peddle (The Aggressives, Sunset Edge) and proudly produced by John Solomon (Final Analysis, Brilliant Moon) alongside executive producer Gail Lyon (Gattaca,Destination Wedding)

MOSS held its world premiere at the LA Film Festival and screened at numerous other festivals including the Riverrun International Film Festival, Bali International Film Festival, and Flagler Film Festival where it received awards for Best Actor, Best Feature Narrative and Best Cinematography. Lead Mitchell Slaggert also won Best Actor at the Hell's Half Mile Film Festival.

"We're thrilled to be working with Breaking Glass in getting this transcendent and timely film out to a wider audience'" said Oration's Timothy O'Brien.

In this Southern Gothic coming-of-age tale, an isolated and troubled young man, Moss, meets a mysterious and beautiful hiker on the banks of the river near his home on his eighteenth birthday. She guides him on a journey of self-discovery and helps him overcome the tragic death of his mother and the shadow it has cast on his relationship with his detached father. A sensitive portrait of rural North Carolina, MOSS reveals the struggles and beauty of lives deeply connected to nature.

A native of North Carolina, artist and filmmaker Daniel Peddle first found his voice as a "street scout" discovering unconventional talent for the fashion world and his own student films while at NYU Graduate Film School. Peddle's discoveries include actress Jennifer Lawrence, who he scouted at Union Square when she was 14 years old and more recently Mitchell Slaggert, the breakout star of Moss.

"Daniel Peddle's beautiful and haunting film captures the joy, isolation and boredom of youth as it navigates first love, tragedy and personal reflection", said Richard Ross, Co-President of Breaking Glass. "Mitchell Slaggert is exceptional as a boy lost in the space between past and present."
