Following a series of high-profile collaborations over the past year, Barbados-born, Los Angeles-based Bobby Saint is now stepping into his own as a solo artist. Today Saint announces Unholy, his debut EP out May 19th on Shoot To Kill Music and shares a taste of what's in store on the new EP with the reveal of "Sexy" exclusively via Afropunk. The first track revealed from the upcoming five-track collection of soul infused, deep funk fusion of rock and R&B, "Sexy" is a steaming and lascivious R&B tune that drips with desire and curls your toes.
"This song came about thinking about the elusive 'dream' and taking a snapshot of the case, the manifestation, the look, the feel, fear and falling in love with this sexy creature that shines brighter than the sun," explains Saint. "Furthermore, failure is never an option, abyss or mountain tops... once her light glimmers, the greatest story will always be told."
Armed with a versatile voice, powerful stage presence, a unique lyrical perspective, and raw, unfettered talent, Saint captivates on Unholy. The collection, his first solo foray, sees Saint flex his vast musical chops (from songwriting to production and all things in between) as he explores the interplay between the divine and the profane.
"For me," says Saint, "this EP is about freedom, growth, spirituality, views of self, city nights and love. It's about keeping the fires lit, raising consciousness, while bowing down to the greats: Bob Marley, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye. This is me going forward with only love and the funk in my heart."
