Blaire Alise & The Bombshells have released the video for their song "Telemono" today via Interview Magazine. The song appears on their new album My Eye, out now. Interview praises the track and video concept as "firmly footed in the '60s: the high-energy number calls back to the Ronettes with a bass-fueled, rock spin and, as Alise describes it, an "aggressive Patsy Cline string section," while its surreal animation evokes the Beatles' 1968 film Yellow Submarine." Blaire Alise tells Interview Magazine: "I loved the idea of contrasting such an emotional song with the colorfulness of the vegetables. It's a dark song, but watching my bandmates play their instruments while dressed up as an eggplant and a pickle adds an element of humor."
The 20-year-old Detroit native Alise is leading the vanguard of a new generation in garage-pop, embodying the swagger of early 60's rock, to edgier avant-garde proto-psychedelia, to classic bubblegum-pop whimsy, to a modern indie-rock sound with meticulously woven harmonies. Alise is currently based in New York where she performs (and tours) regularly with her band, The Bombshells.
