Got the itch to do some dancing? Town Hall Theater has booked the best local band for dancing, Bandanna, for a dance party tonight, September 28.
“Bandanna brought down the house when they played here last year, and we immediately asked them to come back,” says THT executive director Douglas Anderson. Hailing from the Lincoln area, the band is making fans wherever it goes.
Jim Lienau has a long history of making music in the area, going back to fondly-remember Fat Tones, a 5-person a cappella group. He’s joined by Ron Rost on keyboards, Glenn Goodwin on bass, and J.R. Highter on drums.
The lead singer in the band is Anna, Jim’s daughter – hence the band’s name, Bandanna. Anna Lienau, though only in her 20’s, has a knowledge of music that stretches back half a century. Her renditions of Patsy Cline songs could be mistaken for the originals, and whether she’s singing country, Motown or rock & roll, she throws herself into the music. “This is one of the best voices I’ve heard in a long time,” says Anderson, “and she’s a lot of fun to watch, because she loves every moment of what she’s doing. See her now, because she’s going places.”
Bandanna will appear at Town Hall Theater on Saturday, September 28, starting at 8 pm. The big Town Hall Theater floor will be cleared for dancing, and the balcony will be open for those who want to sit and simply experience this remarkable band.
A cash bar and snacks will be available. Tickets are $10, and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, by calling 382-9222, at the THT Box Office or at the door.
Picturd: Anna Lienau, her dad Jim Lineau and their band Bandanna play everything from rock & roll classics to Patsy Cline at a Town Hall Theater dance party tonight, September 28.
