On Thursday, October 20th from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Brooklyn's P.S. 321 will be graced with nearly 30 cellists playing Bach in classrooms, corridors, and (pending weather) even outside.
Pianist Simone Dinnerstein, the Artistic Director of Neighborhood Classics, is hoping that these cellists will be able to "saturate the school in Bach" for a day.
The evening following the Bach Invasion, Friday, October 21st at 7:00 p.m., cellist Zuill Bailey will give a performance at the school as the opening performance for the Neighborhood Classics Series. Tickets for the concert can be purchased online at: http://neighborhoodclassics1021.eventbrite.com/.Neighborhood Classics was founded by pianist Simone Dinnerstein in 2009 in an effort to build relationships at the local level between neighborhoods and musicians. These one-hour, family-friendly performances are hosted by Simone and feature musicians she has admired and collaborated with during her career. The concerts are open to the public and raise funds to benefit the schools' students. Musicians performing donate their performances to the program, and the concerts are organized and administered by PTA volunteers and faculty members.
Zuill Bailey's sound has been described as "rich, like dark chocolate . . . strong and direct" (San Francisco Classical Voice). At PS 321, he will be playing selections from the Bach Cello Suites.
