NYC-based Pop/Rock singer/songwriter, Monte Mader, is a girl from the middle of nowhere who moved to the Big City to pursue music and almost lost everything on the way. After a tumultuous journey of life challenges, Monte emerges strong and empowered onto the music scene with her debut EP, Skydive, that she released on May 19, 2017. Ground Sounds calls her music "impressive" and "a big, punchy dose of pop with some really intriguing elements that elevate it to a fantastic level." Skydive is now available on iTunes and Amazon. Below, BWW exclusively premieres the music video for the title track:

Growing up on a ranch in Wyoming, Mader was surrounded by country and gospel music. She later became a fan of a variety of genres. Soulful artists, such as Alicia Keys, John Legend and the Righteous Brothers, lyrical giants such as Michael Jackson and Carol King, and young roots-rock artists, Grace Potter and Elle King, are all among her musical inspirations. After enduring a toxic relationship, depression and near bankruptcy, Monte managed to pick herself back up over and over. She also suffered the devastating loss of her father in 2016 and decided she would pursue her dreams because her father would have wanted her to. She wrote the title track of her first EP as an ode to her own resiliency and courage.

Mader says, "I wanted to write a song that touched on some of my greatest struggles in life. I chose 'Skydive' for the title because skydiving is about overcoming fear, choosing risk, and enjoying the fall as part of the experience. Once I settled on that, I wrote the first verse as a response to experiencing an abusive relationship, the second about struggling with an eating disorder and feelings of depression, and the third was about losing the person I loved most, my dad. I set it to guitar so the focus could be on the words. I wanted it to feel freeing and uncluttered."

Her new video, "Skydive," which she shot right in Manhattan, shows a brief depiction of Mader's journey from her childhood to where she is today.

Now based in New York City, Monte has taken control of her life, both on and off the stage. She recently had a successful show at New York City's popular Rockwood Music Hall to celebrate the release of her debut EP, Skydive. She plans to perform more shows in the coming months, including at the iconic NYC venue, The Bitter End, on July 21, 2017.
