Caleb Nott and Georgia Nott, the highly celebrated brother and sister who comprise the band Broods, have soared to musical fame in North America through their glossy, ethereal synth-pop tunes. Having just completed a sold-out US tour supporting UK soul artist Sam Smith, the New Zealand duo headed south to Austin City Limits, performing alongside headliners Beck, Capital Cities, and more.
Their debut album, 'Evergreen,' whose 'sparse arrangements (go) down easy while hinting at the heights this young act could eventually achieve' (Billboard) was released in North America earlier this month (Capitol Records). Produced in New Zealand by Grammy-award winning producer Joel Little (Lorde, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, Elliphant), 'Evergreen' is the second highest debut on the CMJ charts this week.
The band has also been nominated for three awards at this year's Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards: Single of the Year, 'Bridges'; Breakthrough Artist of the Year; and the People's Choice Award. The pair will perform at the award ceremony on November 20 in New Zealand.
To punctuate the wrap of their successful tour, and to celebrate the official release of 'Evergreen,' Georgia and Caleb delivered a massive headline performance to a sold-out house at the El Rey theatre in Los Angeles Monday, October 13, 2014. Mid-concert the crowd showed their support for the new LP by posing for a photo with the duo while donning 'Evergreen' cover-art inspired wolf masks. Fans can enter to win a signed Broods vinyl by visiting http://BroodsEvergreen.com and submitting a photo of themselves wearing the mask using #BROODSEVERGREEN via Instagram or Twitter.
Both 'Evergreen' and their critically acclaimed self-titled EP featured the enormously popular breakthrough song 'Bridges'. As part of Capitol Records' 1 Mic, 1 Take videos, a series that features artists performing a musically stripped-down version of a recent hit, an acoustic version of 'Bridges' debuted on Idolator last week. Their second single, 'Mother & Father,' praised as 'nothing short of an emotional triumph,' (Idolator) generated international acclaim upon its release in Summer 2014. The 'elegant pop' (THE FADER) tune continues to gain momentum in the U.S., and has already racked up an impressive 750,000 plays on YouTube, 4.8 million plays on Spotify, and 44 million impressions on VEVO.
'Four Walls,' arguably Broods' 'most sonically melancholy song yet,' (Pigeons and Planes) features Georgia behind the keyboard, crooning the emotionally transparent ballad with her graceful yet powerful voice. The 'Four Walls' Official Live Lyrics video has received over 10 million Vevo impressions, including VEVO.com/mobile carousel and feed posts, YouTube annotations and Twitter support. 'Evergreen' is available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify and in record stores nationwide.
