BELL The Band are excited to announce the release of their debut EP, BELL The Band, due out January 27th, 2017. The EP will feature five songs, including "Love Before Me," a new song which premiered on Friday via Atwood Magazine, who chatted with the band about the song's origins, listen and read here. To celebrate, BELL The Band recently announced a hometown release show at NYC's Rockwood Music Hall on February 11th!
BELL The Band is led by vocalist and songwriter Caitlin Marie Bell and joined live by drummer Jared Saltiel, upright bassist Gab Bowler and guitarist Harper James. Bell, raised in
Georgia on American folk and country music, picked up the guitar at a young age before enrolling at Oberlin's Conservatory of Music to study opera. After graduating, she spent time in Seattle, WA to serve as an apprentice to a Kora master. Eventually she made her way back to the east coast and rediscovered her voice in the vibrant musical landscape of New York City. When not performing with BELL The Band, Bell tours the country with indie-pop artist Handsome Ghost.
"Love Before Me" follows "My Little Town" and its B-Side "Isn't That Life," which were released last November as a dual single. Upon their release, the tracks made their way onto several Spotify Playlists, including
Fresh Folk,
Women of Fresh Finds, and the band was the featured cover for the
New Roots playlist and jumped from 0 to 15,000 monthly listeners almost overnight. In addition, the band stopped by the Paste Studios in NYC to perform a few of their songs and a gorgeous cover of the American folk classic made popular by Lead Belly, "In the Pines." The full session can be seen
here!
The five-song debut is rounded out by two additional new tracks, "Whiskey Bottle" and "Oh My God." Art for the EP was created by Nora Patterson of Royal Teeth. BELL The Band EP will be available for purchase and on Spotify on January 27th, 2017 and tickets for the release show can be found
here. For the most up-to-date information, please visit
